At Village Development Centre (VDC), we understand that the health of our planet is inextricably linked to our actions. In 2010, with the generous support of Youth Services America, we embarked on a tree plantation program made possible by the Disney Friends for Change Grants.
Our child labour special school children joined hands with the local community to plant an impressive 500 trees in Sengulipatti and Palaiyur villages on November 9th, 2010. This initiative was not just about planting trees; it was about nurturing hope and fostering a sense of responsibility towards our environment.
As part of the program, VDC organized community meetings where participants proudly wore T-shirts and caps bearing the slogan "Save the Globe." This powerful message served as a reminder of our collective responsibility to protect our planet.
During these meetings, awareness was raised on the critical issue of climate change and its far-reaching implications. Participants learned about the importance of safe drinking water and the vital role of protecting our precious animal species.
This Tree Plantation Program was more than just an environmental effort; it was a celebration of unity, community, and our shared commitment to creating a greener, healthier world.
