VDC has been organizing social security awareness campaign for the manual workers in Tiruchirappalli and Karur districts and facilitated to enroll 3000 workers in the social security scheme. More than 1500 workers received benefits such maternity benefits, educational benefits, marriage benefits and death claims. Enrollment and renewal activities are going on. Especially, this intervention helped the women labourers to ensure their social security.

Micro Credit Programme

We have promoted 253 women self help groups with a membership of 4001 women. It organised livelihood support trainings and provided micro finance for 1500 women till March 2009. Women are taking loans for purchase of cattle, establishment of self-enterprises, agricultural development activities, and renovation of homes, children higher education, and additional investment for their trades. Rastriya Mahila Kosh - RMK, New Delhi, Canara Bank Thirupanjeeli, Trocaire, Ireland, Mahalir Thittam, Tiruchy and ECLOF India, Chennai, supported this programme. Repayment of loan both from the groups and to agency is 100%.
